The project consists in the creation of a new Cultural Center in the bay of Kaigan, the heart of Tokyo’s harbour. The main challenge is to combine contemporary architecture with the values of traditional Japanese architecture. The complex includes a Theatre, an Outdoor Amphitheatre, a Library, a Dojo Club and a Boatclub, composed together as a Japanese garden, all linked by a soft concrete roof directed by elegant curves. Poetically, the buildings appear like rocks, forming spaces of meditation.
